It’s always amazing to see someone you know on the box, so the appearance of former client Toastabags on tonight’s ‘Dragons Den’ was a complete surprise. It was five years ago and a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then – but even so. Well done to Guy Unwin for his persistence in the face of a million doubters. I’d like to think that I played a small part in setting Toastabags on the road to success, although in truth, this product occupies such a deep niche that it could only be the blood and guts of the entrepreneur himself (stacking shelves in his local supermarket the year before we met) which has helped the product survive – and, hopefully, prosper with the £200K backing of one of the intrepid Dragons.
